Early Report, PRNC

There is just SO much to report from the August 27 Neighborhood Council meeting that it will take me at least a day to process through it all! In the meantime, let me whet your appetite with several documents:

Point Richmond Neighborhood Council Agenda and Minutes. Brickyard Realty posted these every month, once upon a time, but now they don't (the last link is April), so I scanned and uploaded the paper version.

Police Statistics from the Richmond PD.

Jay Betts' Proposed Commercial Building planned for 217 West Richmond. It has two parking spaces for a three-story commercial/residential building--that should be enough, don't you think? Hey, the Board loved it--why shouldn't you?

But I am getting ahead of myself. I have five pages of notes. More later!

The building now housed by the wonderful tchotchka shop on the main drag (Washington) looks as if it might have been a theater. I wonder--who could tell us? the historical society?

Has there ever been a movie theater in Point Richmond? I think the Point would be the perfect spot for a retrospective film theatre, concentrating on the great Classic Movies, with a festival nod to silent films, a festival with California locales, animation festivals especially for the children, etc. The East Bay badly needs a retrospective theater, since the loss of the UC Theater in Berkeley. Presently, great Classic Films can only be viewed at the Castro Theater in San Francisco and the Rafael Theater in Marin County. Any comments?
